Always Guided

by | 24 May, 2026 | Speakers

Remember the game you played as a child?

Your friend hides an object in the room. Then you move around until you find it, guided by two words: warmer and colder.

The game always works out. You always find the object because the guidance follows a principle that never varies. Every movement toward what you want is confirmed. Every movement away is noted. It’s continuous guidance leading only toward what you want.

The Feeling Is Our Guidance

Sydney Banks distilled his teaching to something that simple. We are born playing a game we cannot lose. Syd said our wisdom is only in a beautiful feeling. When we are in that feeling, our thinking inspires movement toward thriving.

Syd discovered that every human being is innately whole, sourced by a benevolent energy of infinite intelligence (Mind) that is living and breathing us. This source energy flows through us, and we can never be separated from it. It contains a built-in navigation system that is leading us through life.

Source energy flows only toward thriving, expanding and expressing more of the infinite possibilities within it, through every finite aspect of itself, like you and me. The feeling tone of this energy is love, peace, and well-being. Its essence is only benevolent truth, without contradiction or opposition.

When we are thinking in harmony with our source energy, we feel it.

When we are thinking against it, we feel that too.

Warmer. Colder.

Understanding the Feeling

A common misunderstanding is that feeling bad means something has gone wrong. We can view it as a sign that we are broken and need to be fixed, or that something in our lives needs to be resolved.

But every feeling only indicates our internal state in each moment. A feeling does not offer information about our life situations and conditions. It offers intelligence about our thinking – whether it is allowing source energy to flow through us toward thriving, or opposing it.

When our thinking is in harmony with the intelligence of our source, we feel good. We are tuned to the signal that is built into us. When our thinking innocently moves in contradiction to our source, we don’t feel as good.

Feeling bad is not a problem to be solved. Our feelings don’t require solutions; they only require understanding.

When we feel bad, we know we can release the thinking that is taking us toward colder. We feel relief instantly, since our source energy only inspires movement toward warmer. Toward thriving.

Surviving Requires Effort. Thriving Does Not.

When our thinking contradicts our true nature, it requires our own energy to sustain it. Our source energy flows only the truth of who we are, relentlessly toward thriving, even when we are opposing it. It takes everything we have to sustain untrue thoughts that produce feelings of worry, fear, insecurity, or despair.

Ultimately, this exhausts us as we consume our own energy to sustain movement in a direction our source energy never supports.

We have all experienced the feeling of flow. The times we felt clear, when the right idea came at the right time, and everything came together with an ease we could not quite explain. This is the feeling of moving toward warmer rather than colder. Rather than consuming our own energy, we come alive even more as we are moved by source energy.

Follow the Feeling

So the practical question is, what do we do with all of this?

What may be frustrating to hear is that there is nothing to do. This understanding is for human beings, not human doings.

Our understanding of life expands through living, not through figuring it out. As it does, what we do and don’t do adjusts naturally, toward warmer and away from colder.

Persistent movement toward colder takes effort. It requires insistence on our own thinking over the feeling that naturally moves us toward warmer. But when we find ourselves thinking against our well-being, it never feels good. And as we notice the feeling, we naturally turn away from that thinking.

Effortless Living

Fortunately, we need not try to control thoughts or feelings, which would be exhausting. We only need to notice the feeling that guides us toward warmer.

Our guidance toward thriving is always working. Without us doing anything.

Living in a way that allows thriving is natural and effortless.

All else is struggle and hard work.

Your True Desire

In the children’s game, the guidance points us to an object outside us.

In the version we are actually playing, our guidance points us toward our true desire: the feeling of being who we really are. That is never hidden outside us. It is always here, now, within us. Our guidance is pointing us toward more of who we already are, not toward becoming something we are not.

Who we really are is far more than we think.

This game is pointing us home to all that we are. It’s a game we cannot lose, because our guidance is never turned off. As long as we are living, the feeling is always there, offering simple, reliable intelligence for our thriving.

You’re getting warmer. You’re getting warmer.

Follow that feeling.
